Animal Collective

two songs/videos for your enjoyment: Summertime Clothes and Brothersport. i must admit, the first video freaks me out a little...

Psapp

i love love love love this band. they're kindof...low-key crazy? the first song i ever heard by them was Hi off the album The Only Thing I Ever Wanted, and Calm Down (no music video) is, i think, my favorite song off their other album Tiger, My Friend, which i like even more.

Local H

heard this song in the little excellent indie movie Love, Blood, Kryptonite, and fell in love with it. sorry, no video, just a lame still of some poster. ignore that and just listen to the song.

Hot IQs

Firecracker: sir rob miller showed me this song some years ago. sadly, the Hot IQs have since disbanded..anyway, they're sortof Franz Ferdinand esque, & here you go:

Jape

i stumbled upon this song/video Floating several years ago, i dont remember how now. recently i thought of it again, and fell in love just as much as the first time.

Siouxsie and the Banshees

another KEXP find from i suppose a couple months ago. i purchased a CD slightly after, but this is still my favorite song. probably due to its craziness:

Beach House

Beach House reminds me a lot of Fleet Foxes, but with a female vocalist and maybe a little..softer? i'm not sure. anyway: Used to Be, by Beach House. (music video and a excellent acoustic/live version)

Lady Gaga

i don't care what you say -- i worship Lady Gaga. call her pop, mainstream, whatever, i think she's more akin to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Santogold than she is Britney (no offense miss Spears), and i absolutely love the song 'Teeth' but because there's no music video for that, here's another one i really like:

K'naan

heard Waving Flag on KEXP today. it was introduced as music from some guy who started out in some foreign country, blah blah blah. all i really caught was that it sounded like it would be some wo' pop, and i really didn't want any wo' pop at the time. it wasn't, and i was very pleasantly surprised. i'm still exploring the rest of his music, but here's the song i heard today (no music video, unfortunately..):

Florence + The Machine

i love Florence + the Machine. i hear them on kexp all the time and had yet to find some songs i really adored until a couple days ago. here's two excellent pieces:

Scatman John

i discovered this dude and this song a couple days ago, rather randomly. i could only think, 'why haven't i heard of this guy already??"

techno dance jazz craziness. love it.
